About this role

We’re looking for freelance SEO Content Strategists to support building content strategies for our clients and help them reach their business goals. You'll collaborate with our strategy and editorial teams to ensure our clients receive a white glove experience as we ideate and pitch premium content ideas that drive traffic and, more importantly, revenue.

This is the perfect role for someone experienced in content marketing, SEO, project management, and account management within an agency or SaaS environment.

Your responsibilities

Our SEO Content Strategist is responsible for:

  • Learning each client's industry and business inside and out and applying this knowledge to content strategy, project performance, and reporting

  • Performing topic research, problem discovery, and customer and leadership team interviews to support content plans for up to 10-15 clients across multiple industries

  • Ensuring that each strategy session runs smoothly, seamlessly, and on schedule at all times

  • Working with our Managing Editor to bridge the gap between content strategy and editorial strategy, and ensuring clients receive the highest quality deliverables with no errors

  • Conducting bi-weekly consulting calls for clients and field client requests

  • Notion, Asana, Ahrefs, Clearscope, Google Sheets, Slack, Screaming Frog

Who you are

The type of person we're looking for:

  • You understand and are curious about business. While you’re an expert at content strategy, you also know that the goal of B2B content is to ultimately contribute to business goals. You understand and can effectively communicate how a successful content strategy translates to business metrics (e.g., signups, leads, revenue, etc.). You devour business podcasts like My First Million, All-In, and How to Win and read content from sites like First Round Review.

  • You're experienced in SEO and content. You have 3-5 years of experience with SEO, keyword research, and content marketing. You can analyze a search engine results page (SERP) and provide guidance to help articles rank.

  • You think like a journalist. You lead with creativity and curiosity. You deal in facts and stats but appreciate opinions when relevant to content strategy.

  • You’re an independent worker and leader. You can set and achieve your own goals and communicate what you’re working on. You don't need or want to be managed (but you’re always eager to learn). You can ask for help but thrive in autonomy.

  • You’re adaptable. You're flexible and agile. You know things change and may not work out as planned, so you do what needs to be done.

  • You’re organized and process-oriented. You're detail-oriented and organized. You try to be as efficient as possible and always look for ways to improve how things are done. You can juggle multiple projects and responsibilities with multiple people at once.

  • You're a strong verbal and written communicator. You can clearly communicate nuanced and complex concepts and thoughts. You can also edit others’ work and provide constructive feedback.

  • You seek feedback. You’re eager to learn, grow, and improve your skills.
