About this role

We’re hiring a sales development representative (SDR) to scale our sales operations.

We’ve got a smooth process for prospecting, qualifying, and closing leads, and we’re looking for a scrappy and talented SDR to increase our top-of-funnel sales pipeline and ultimately drive more revenue.

You will be in the trenches qualifying inbound prospects and building net new opportunities through channels like email outreach, social media, and partnerships.

Success in this role will be measured on qualified leads and opportunities, but you’ll also have the chance to help us optimize and improve our process as we scale it.

This is a perfect role for someone knowledgeable about digital marketing services, particularly SEO and content marketing, and someone who also wants to drive directly attributable revenue and learn quickly.

There is a lot of room to be creative with plenty of autonomy, as this is a fully remote position. You will report to our co-founder and head of marketing.

Your responsibilities

Your job as a sales development representative will include:

  • Prospecting: we have inbound pipeline as well as a target accounts list that is constantly updated. You’ll build upon this target accounts list using our ICP (ideal customer profile) as well as qualify inbound leads.

  • Outreach: you’ll make first contact with both inbound leads through our website and content as well as through targeted email outreach.

  • Discovery calls: you’ll conduct discovery calls to diagnose goals, pain points, and contextual information, inputting this data into HubSpot and transferring qualified leads to our account executive.

  • Partnerships: you’ll leverage existing partnerships by sending and receiving relevant leads and working on co-marketing relationships. You’ll also source and qualify new partners to fill out our ecosystem

  • System optimization: you’ll continually audit and suggest improvements for our sales development operations, optimizing for outcomes as well as efficiency.

Who you are

  • Strong Sales Acumen: Proven track record in sales or business development, preferably in the digital marketing industry.

  • Knowledge of Sales Development Techniques: Ability to prospect and identify potential clients, create effective outreach strategies, and nurture leads to conversion.

  • Technically Proficient: Familiarity with various SEO tools (like Ahrefs or Semrush), CRM platforms (HubSpot), social selling platforms (like LinkedIn) and sales intelligence tools (like Clearbit)

  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex SEO and content marketing strategies to potential clients in an easy-to-understand manner.

  • Goal-Oriented: Ability to work toward and achieve specified sales targets.

  • Strong Presentation Skills: Comfortable conducting presentations, demos, and business meetings with potential clients.

  • Industry Awareness: Up-to-date knowledge of current trends and changes in SEO and digital marketing fields.

  • Persistent and Resilient: Willingness to pursue leads over a prolonged period and handle rejection professionally.

  • Experience in SEO and content (optional but preferred). Experience or knowledge in SEO and content is helpful, but we can train the right candidate.

  • High bar for quality. We sell premium services to a discerning target market. Low quality spam techniques don’t work and will backfire for our market.

  • Seek feedback. You’re eager to learn new things to grow and improve your skills.

  • Not afraid to jump on a call. This role is heavily relationship-focused. In many ways, you’re managing two sets of relationships: our prospects and our partners.

  • Make great decisions quickly and focus on action. You have a bias toward action and learning on the fly. You don't shy away from making decisions, knowing that you can iterate and improve as you go.

  • Meticulous and detailed. No typos in outreach emails, please.

  • Not an asshole. We spend a lot of our days engaging with our coworkers and clients. There's no room for assholes. You're friendly, eager to jump in and take ownership, and love to work as a team to be successful.
